SEDONA, AZ
There’s an unquestionable majesty about Sedona, no matter which direction you look. It’s like a theater in the round. Red rock walls and towering pinnacles set the stage for a magical light show, performed daily from dawn till dusk. Every scene deserves a photo and every camera yearns to be on the “panoramic” setting.
This valley of vistas and vortexes is best enjoyed on a hike. The easiest trails are an accessible study of Northern Arizona soil, stone, flora and fauna, under lacy canopies of oak and spruce. Higher trails quickly condense centuries of geological layering into Rodin-like gestures thrusting upward toward the sun as jet trails attempt a grid pattern on the wide blue sky, behind freeform clouds. This natural extravaganza becomes all the more magical the higher you climb.
